Dragon's Milk Tales of Gold
New Holland
New Holland
This was one of the first barrel‑aged beers I ever had, and years later I still love it. It’s funny — I usually stay far away from extra‑sweet beers like pastry stouts or anything drowning in chocolate, but this one hits a balance of sweetness and booziness that just works. It isn’t sugary; it’s more like dark caramelised honey with a touch of vanilla.
It doesn’t cost an arm and a leg, and it’s easy to find in the US. All in all, a solid, interesting golden heavy‑hitter.
The pour is a deep, dark gold with a moderate carbonation — the kind of beer that makes you think a Viking would be drinking it somewhere in time. (Maybe I need to stop watching so many movies.)
